Within Philosophy, I am interested in Ethics, Epistemology (especially Moral Epistemology), Aesthetics, and Iris Murdoch's philosophical writing (particularly at the points where these areas converge).
My current primary project is on Iris Murdoch's metaethics. I focus on core metaethical ideas such as truth, realism and 'the Good' and try to understand her conceptions of these. I'm also thinking about how these shape the way she does Philosophy.
Prior to this, my work has focused on the moral phenomena of everyday life, often drawing on virtue theory. I have written about a variety of topics such as friendship, love, mourning, forgiveness, hope and humility. I am continuing to work on some of these, and am collaborating with Matt Dougherty and Lucy McDonald on this.
